Resurrection Power and Authority
As Peter and John were being questioned about the “stir” that the Holy Spirit created with the healing of the lame man at the Gate Beautiful, the Jewish leaders asked a very important question. They wanted to know “in what POWER, or in WHAT NAME” (emphasis mine) that they had healed this man.
This is not an “OR” question as these two are closely related.
Without supporting power, there is no authority!

Peter and John’s reply to both the crowd who witnessed the healing and to the Jewish authorities left no doubt that it was not their power that healed the man, but the authority of the Name of Jesus, and His power!

In His last instruction to the disciples, Jesus instructed them to go into all the world, but to do so in His authority! They had experienced His delegated authority once before as He sent the twelve out; and then He sent the seventy with that same authority to heal the sick.
What does the Word of God say to you and me about the authority of the believer today? Many might say that it has passed away. Many believers might even ask “what authority?”
